There’s no more denying that Christmas is here.
In 1980, my dad was living in Paris and wanted to send some Christmas cards home to his family and friends. So, he carried a large sign reading “Joyeux Noël” all around the city and had a friend take his picture in front of a variety famous Parisian destinations.
Years later, he had a daughter who, from a young age, had a mild obsession with Paris. After hearing this story, she thought it would be entertaining to make a similar sign and carry it around her second-favorite city (after Paris, where she has never been), Washington, D.C.
So her dad made a very nice sign for her to carry, and took pictures of her in as many Washingtonian places as they could reach in two-and-a-half hours. Like all polite French girls, she did not grimace too much when people said “Bon-jorr.”
Without further ado, may we present Exhibit A of “Joyeux Noël(le).”
To be continued.
