From my church bulletin this morning …

God does not grant the necessary grace before the trial. He builds the bridge when we reach the river. We often fear that we shall sink under the trials we see others endure. We anxiously look off into the distance and become afraid of the mystery of what may lie ahead. We anguish over what is to befall us, and wonder how we shall prevail. Sadly, we have forgotten the Lord’s words in the great Sermon on the Mount, instructing us not to be anxious for tomorrow; not to be anxious about a trial or some trouble not yet here: for we have not yet reached the crisis, and His grace is not vouchsafed before it is needed. ‘Jesus comes with our distress!’ Indeed, He does. — Bishop Quayle

But He gives us more and still more grace — the power of the Holy Spirit, to meet this evil tendency and all others fully. James 4:6 Amplified
